Is There RawBT for PC? How to Print Receipts From Windows Instead

21 October 2026 · 5 min read · By the Raw Print team

No, there is no RawBT for PC. RawBT is an Android app, and its developer doesn't publish a Windows, Mac or Linux version, an .exe file or a desktop driver. To print receipts from a Windows PC or laptop, install your thermal printer's own Windows driver, or use POS software that prints to the printer directly. If your POS was built around RawBT, the simplest fix is often to run it on an Android tablet instead of a PC.

Disclosure: we make Raw Print, an Android print app. It's Android-only too, so this guide focuses on what actually works on a PC. RawBT details come from its developer's published description, checked in October 2026.

Your options on a computer:

  1. Install the printer's Windows driver and print like any other printer.
  2. Use POS software with direct printer support (USB, COM port or IP address).
  3. Print from the browser with a receipt-sized page.
  4. Move the POS to an Android tablet and use a print app there.

Why there's no RawBT for Windows

RawBT is an Android print service. It plugs into Android's own printing system, the Android Share menu and Android's link handling. None of those exist on Windows, so the app can't simply be copied over. Windows already has its own system for this job: printer drivers.

That's also why searches for "RawBT exe", "RawBT for Windows 10" or "RawBT for Windows 7" lead nowhere official. Files offered under those names on download sites aren't from RawBT's developer. Don't run them.

What about running RawBT in an Android emulator?

Emulators such as BlueStacks run Android apps on a PC, so it's tempting to install RawBT inside one. It rarely works well for printing:

  • Bluetooth: most emulators don't pass the PC's Bluetooth through to Android apps, so RawBT can't see the printer.
  • USB: emulators generally don't give apps raw access to USB printers.
  • Network printers: this is the one case that can work, because the emulator shares the PC's network. But if your printer is on the network, Windows can print to it directly anyway.

An emulator also adds another layer that can crash or update at the wrong moment. For a business till, use one of the options below instead.

"RawBT driver": what people mean

RawBT's Play Store listing has at times described it as a driver for thermal printers. On Android that's loosely accurate: it does the job a driver does on a PC. But it isn't a Windows driver, and you can't install it as one. If you need a "thermal printer driver" for Windows, you need the driver from your printer's manufacturer.

Option 1: Install the printer's Windows driver

This is the right answer for most people. Once the driver is installed, the thermal printer appears in Windows like any other printer, and every program can print to it: browsers, PDF readers, Word, Excel and most billing software.

  1. Print the printer's self-test page to find the exact model (hold Feed while switching on).
  2. Download the driver from the manufacturer's official site.
  3. Install it and choose the right port: USB, the Bluetooth virtual COM port, or the printer's IP address.
  4. Set the paper size to 58 mm or 80 mm and print a test page.

Our thermal printer driver guide covers each step, including Bluetooth printers on Windows.

Option 2: POS software that prints directly

Many desktop POS and billing programs send ESC/POS commands straight to the printer's USB port, COM port or IP address. That's faster than a driver, prints sharper, and controls paper cutting and the cash drawer. Check your software's printer settings for a "raw", "ESC/POS" or "receipt printer" option.

If you're writing your own software, an ESC/POS library for Python, PHP, Node.js, Java or C# does the same job.

Option 3: Print from the browser

If your POS runs in a browser on the PC, it can print through Windows' normal print dialog once the driver is installed:

  • Set the paper size to the receipt width in the printer's preferences.
  • In the browser's print dialog, set margins to None and turn off headers and footers.
  • Use a narrow receipt layout (about 48 mm or 72 mm of printable width).

Chrome's kiosk printing mode can skip the dialog entirely on a dedicated till PC. Ask your POS provider whether they support it.

Silent printing on a dedicated till PC

RawBT's appeal on Android is that receipts print without a dialog. On a Windows till, Chrome can do something similar. Start Chrome with the --kiosk-printing switch (add it to the shortcut's Target field), and window.print() sends the page straight to the default printer. Set the thermal printer as the Windows default, set its paper size, and design the receipt page at the printer's width. Use this only on a PC dedicated to the till, because every print from that Chrome window goes straight to the receipt printer.

Bluetooth receipt printers on Windows

Windows can print to a Bluetooth Classic receipt printer through a virtual serial (COM) port:

  1. Pair the printer in Settings › Bluetooth & devices (PIN 0000 or 1234).
  2. Open More Bluetooth settings › COM Ports and note the outgoing port.
  3. Install the printer driver and select that COM port.

It works, but USB is more dependable for a fixed till.

Option 4: Run the POS on an Android tablet

If your web POS was designed around RawBT links, the cleanest setup is often an Android tablet at the counter instead of a PC. The tablet runs the POS in Chrome, and a print app receives the rawbt: links and prints immediately, with no dialogs.

On the tablet, you can use RawBT itself, or Raw Print, which accepts the same rawbt: links, prints to Bluetooth and USB receipt printers, and adds nothing to the receipt. See receipt printers for Android tablets for counter setups.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download RawBT for Windows 10 or Windows 11?

No. RawBT is Android-only. Files labelled "RawBT for Windows" or "RawBT exe" on download sites aren't from its developer. Use your printer's Windows driver instead.

Is there a RawBT app for laptops?

No. On a laptop, install the thermal printer's driver from the manufacturer, or use POS software that prints directly to the printer.

Can I run RawBT in BlueStacks?

It may install, but emulators usually can't reach Bluetooth or USB printers. Network printers might work, but Windows can print to them directly, so there's little reason to use an emulator.

Is RawBT open source?

RawBT's developer doesn't publish its source code. If you need an open-source Android print service, look at Open ESC/POS Print Service on GitHub, or use an ESC/POS library in your own app.
