Privacy Policy

What Raw Print does with information on your phone, what it sends to us, and how to turn it off.

Effective date: 11 October 2026

The short version

  • No account and no ads. We don't use the advertising ID.
  • What you print, including receipts and customer details, stays on your phone. We never receive it.
  • The app sends anonymous usage statistics, crash reports and performance data to Google Firebase so we can fix problems and improve the app. You can turn this off in Settings › Share usage and crash reports.
  • We may send occasional notifications about new features and fixes. You can turn them off in Android's notification settings.
  • We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.

1. Who we are

Raw Print (package name com.zaheelabs.rawprint) is an Android app for printing to thermal receipt printers. It is developed and published by Zahee Labs ("we", "us"). We decide how the data described here is used. In this policy, "the app" means Raw Print and "you" means anyone who uses it.

If you have any question about this policy, email zaheelabs@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

Raw Print has no user accounts. To find and fix problems, it uses four Google Firebase services. The data is linked to random identifiers created by the app, not to your name, email or phone number.

ServiceWhat it collectsWhy
Firebase Analytics How the app is used: app opens, screens viewed, setup steps and how setup ended, the answer given after the test receipt, and for each print job where it came from (for example the share menu), the type of content (for example PDF), whether it printed, and the type of error. During setup: the connection type, paper width and the model and manufacturer the printer reports.
Collected automatically by Firebase: an app instance ID, device model, Android version, app version, language, approximate country or region (worked out from your IP address, which Analytics does not store), and session information.
To see which features are used and where setup or printing fails.
Firebase Crashlytics When the app crashes or hits an unexpected error: the technical error report, device model, Android version, app version, free memory and storage, a random installation ID, some printer settings (connection type, paper width, picture method, sending speed), and a short log of recent print jobs that records only their source and content type. To find and fix crashes.
Firebase Performance Monitoring How long the app takes to start and draw screens, and how long print jobs take, with their source, content type, result and size in bytes. Also device model, Android version, app version, country, network type and a random installation ID. To make the app faster and more reliable.
Firebase Cloud Messaging A random registration token for your installation. To deliver notifications about new features and fixes.

Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, we process this data based on our legitimate interest in keeping the app working, secure and improving. You can object at any time by turning it off (see section 4).

3. What we never collect

  • The content of anything you print: receipt text, prices, customer names or details, pictures, PDFs or web pages;
  • the web links you print;
  • your printers' names or Bluetooth and USB addresses;
  • your name, email address or phone number (unless you email us; see section 10);
  • your precise location, contacts, photos or files;
  • the advertising ID. The app has no ads and has the advertising-ID permission removed.

4. Turning it off

  • Usage, crash and performance data: open Settings › About › Share usage and crash reports and turn it off. Analytics, Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring stop collecting straight away, and crash reports that have not been sent yet are deleted. The choice is remembered.
  • Notifications: turn off the app's notifications, or just the "News and tips" category, in Android Settings › Apps › Raw Print › Notifications.
  • Everything: uninstalling the app deletes all of its data on your device and stops all collection.

5. Data kept on your device

The app stores some information in its private storage on your phone. Raw Print does not send this information to us or to Firebase.

DataWhy it is storedHow to remove it
Print historyShows your recent print jobs so you can print them again. It can contain whatever you printed, such as receipts with customer details.Tap Clear in the app's history, or uninstall the app.
SettingsRemembers your printer, paper width, character table, print options and your choice about usage reports.Clear the app's storage in Android Settings, or uninstall the app.
Printer detailsThe printer's name, address, model and features, read from the printer during setup, so the app can choose the right settings.Choose a different printer, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app.
Temporary filesCopies of files you share for printing, kept while the job is processed.Removed automatically; also removed when you clear storage or uninstall.

6. App permissions

Android asks you to allow some of these permissions. Each one is used only for the purpose described.

PermissionWhat it is used for
Nearby devices (Bluetooth)Finding and connecting to Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy printers.
Location (Android 11 and lower only)Older Android versions require location permission before an app can scan for Bluetooth devices. Raw Print does not read, store or send your location.
USB accessPrinting to a printer connected with a USB OTG cable. Android may ask you to allow this when you plug in a USB printer.
NotificationsThe ongoing notification that shows the printer connection is active, print problems, and occasional news about the app.
Foreground serviceKeeping the printer connection open in the background so jobs print right away.
Run at startupReconnecting to your printer after your phone restarts.
Internet and network statePrinting web links you ask for, sending the reports described in section 2, and receiving notifications. See section 7.
Other permissions added by FirebaseKeeping the device awake briefly while a report is sent, receiving push messages, and reading the Google Play install referrer (which store listing the app was installed from).

7. Internet use

Printing over Bluetooth or USB works completely offline. Raw Print uses the internet:

  • when you or a point-of-sale app asks it to print a web link. Your phone then contacts that website directly. We don't receive or record that request or the link, and the website may collect information such as your IP address under its own privacy policy;
  • to send the Firebase reports described in section 2, unless you turn them off;
  • to receive notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging.

8. Content from other apps

Other apps and websites can send print jobs to Raw Print, for example through the share menu, Android's Print menu, web links or the app's print intent. That content is processed on your device to produce the printout and may be saved in your local print history. It is never sent to us. You can stop other apps from sending print jobs by turning off Settings › Allow other apps to print.

The app that sends a print job is responsible for its own handling of your data.

9. Backups

If Android backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may back up Raw Print's settings (such as your chosen printer and paper width) so they can be restored on a new phone. This backup is performed and stored by Google under Google's Privacy Policy; we cannot access it.

Your print history is deliberately excluded from backups, because receipts can contain customer information.

10. When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and anything you include in your message, such as your phone model, printer model or screenshots. We use this only to answer you and to fix problems in the app. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not sell or share your email with anyone. We delete support emails when they are no longer needed to help you, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.

Please don't send us receipts or other documents that contain your customers' personal data. If a screenshot is needed, cover up any personal details first.

11. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We use these providers to run the app:

  • Google Firebase (Google LLC) processes the data in section 2 on our behalf as a service provider. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where Google operates, with safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.
  • Google Play handles downloads and updates under the Google Privacy Policy, and gives us statistics such as install counts.
  • Gmail handles support emails.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.

12. How long data is kept

  • Analytics: event data linked to the app instance ID is kept for up to 14 months, then deleted. Totals that can't identify anyone may be kept longer.
  • Crashlytics: crash reports are kept for 90 days.
  • Performance Monitoring: kept for a limited period set by Google, then deleted.
  • Cloud Messaging: the registration token is kept until it stops being used, for example after you uninstall the app.
  • On your device: until you clear it or uninstall the app.

13. This website

This website is hosted on Google Firebase Hosting. It has no sign-up forms, analytics or advertising cookies. Like any web host, Firebase may process basic technical data, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the pages and protect the service. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the fonts are downloaded.

14. Children

Raw Print is a business tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under the minimum age in your country. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

15. Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR (European Union and United Kingdom) or the CCPA (California) give you rights to access, correct, delete or move your personal data, to object to how it is used, and to complain to your local data-protection authority.

The quickest ways to use these rights are in section 4: turn off usage reports, or uninstall the app. Because the data in section 2 is linked only to random identifiers and not to your name or email, we usually can't find a specific person's data, but email zaheelabs@gmail.com and we'll help as far as we can. We will reply within 30 days.

16. Security

Reports to Firebase are sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Data on your device is stored in Raw Print's private app storage, which other apps cannot read. Raw Print refuses requests from other apps that try to make it open its own private files or arbitrary files on your device. Anyone with access to your unlocked phone can see the print history inside the app, so protect your device with a screen lock and clear the history if you share the phone.

17. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, for example collecting a new type of data, we will also mention it in the app's release notes before it takes effect.
