What to include in your email
These details help us find the problem much faster:
- Your phone model and Android version
- Your printer's brand and model, and its paper width (58 mm or 80 mm)
- How it's connected: Bluetooth or USB cable
- What you expected, and what happened instead
- The Raw Print version, from Settings › About
- A photo of the test receipt, if it printed
Quick fixes
The fastest fix is usually the test receipt. Print it from the app, answer "Did it print correctly?", and Raw Print changes the right setting for you.
Nothing prints at all
- Check the paper roll: the shiny side must face the print head. Try flipping it.
- Turn the printer off and on again.
- Make sure no other phone or computer is connected to it.
- A red or blinking light usually means it needs charging or paper.
Text is cut off or the [ ] brackets wrap
The paper width is wrong. Choose "The [ ] brackets aren't on one line" after the test print and Raw Print switches between 58 mm and 80 mm.
Some letters look strange
Choose "Some letters look strange" and pick the letters you need. Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Chinese and other scripts always print as pictures, so they still come out right.
Pictures print as scribbles
Choose "The picture is missing or looks like scribbles". You can also set Settings › Picture method to Compatibility mode.
Lines are skipped or garbled
Set Settings › Sending speed to Careful. Cheaper printers have small memory and need data sent more slowly.
Print is too faint or too dark
Change Settings › Print darkness. Faint print can also mean the paper is old or the printer's battery is low.
Connection problems
The app can't find my printer
- Turn on Bluetooth and allow the Nearby devices permission (on Android 11 and older, allow Location; Android needs it for Bluetooth scanning).
- Keep the printer within a few metres of the phone.
- If the printer is paired to another phone, unpair it there or switch that phone's Bluetooth off.
- For USB, use an OTG adapter or cable and accept Android's prompt to allow access.
The printer keeps disconnecting
- Turn on Settings › Stay connected. Raw Print then keeps the printer ready and reconnects by itself, even after the phone restarts.
- Some phones close background apps to save battery. In Android Settings, open Raw Print's Battery page and choose Unrestricted (the wording differs between phone brands).
- Allow notifications, so Android keeps the connection service running.
Printing from other apps
- Make sure Settings › Allow other apps to print is on.
- Android Print menu: in Chrome, Gmail or Drive, choose Print, then pick Raw Print as the printer and a 58 mm or 80 mm paper size.
- Share: share a PDF, picture or text and choose Raw Print.
- Web POS systems: most POS pages that print through a link or a background print utility work as they are. Links that start with
intent://and name another app's package can only open that app; ask your POS provider to remove thepackage=part.
Developers can find the full link and intent reference inside the app under Settings › For developers.
Your data
We never see your receipts, printer names or settings, so we can't look up a problem from our side. Please include the details above when you write.
